i just discovered that i have gaps in my national insurance contributions for the years i spent in bethel!
i remember signing a vow of poverty and a tax document declaring my volunteer missionary status but i don't remember them ever telling me that i would have to pay my own ni contributions out of my allowance.
i am wondering about all those who have been asked to leave bethel in the last year and who are behind on their contributions.
Pretty hard on the old timers whom got the boot in last years cuts. I suppose the state welfare system will lovingly provide for them though.

it was a year ago today that my life changed completely.
i'll never forget it.
i had zero friends in the kh and was never included in the "guys" drinks, football games, parties etc.

i have a little sister havnt seen or heard from in 20 years she was da for attending a church she was 17 at the time she moved out and lived with a family not jw's in fact they are very a posed to jw's the past 20 years i've tried to make contact she won't respond all i know is she's got kids 2 or 3 of them she lives outside charlotte nc and works for a insurance company as an underwriter.
i think her husband is a police officer ?
being back in her life having a niece or nephew to watch grow up would be nice.
If I were in her position I'd ask that you DA'd yourself before I'd even consider reconnecting.
I think most people in your sisters position would be able to be aware that you were brainwashed and that the last thing you need is yet another relationship based on conditions. In my situation I think my sister could see that I was in a mess at that time and needed support. Her love was the best weapon she could possibly use to fight the wbts. As a result of it cousins who didn't know of one another's existence in the past, play together today.

You can but try dmw, so you've done the right thing. There is no point trying to guess what her response\feelings will be. I reconnected with my DF'ed sister after many years of cutting her out of my life. I owed her an apolagy as you can imagine, and then some. Lucky for me she was delighted to let us back into her life. I hope you are as lucky.
On another topic have you been on the JWfacts website? I would advice spending a few hours on there exploring the research and evidence based facts presented. Unburdening yourself from the mental and emotional shackles that the organisation places upon its members is a crucial part of your recovery. Remember if it is truth it WILL stand up to ANY criticism.

On a side note I owe the Japanese JWs a lot. It was while living in Japan that I had my first inclination that 'this could be a cult'. They are absolute fanatics, the elders are over the top strict- pulling up publishers for there dress, grooming appearence literally all the time-total control freaks and the CO's walk around like celebrities-they are worshipped. Despite this, the Japanese witnesses like the people in general are truly nice, generous and sincere people.
a friend of mine (a jw) delivered a premature baby, and the outlook is grim.. she is posting updates on facebook, and where everyone else is offering prayers for them both, and how "jehovah loves them both very much", and i got...nothing.
nothing that would be comforting.

you know, there are some studies that are painful to sit through because of the blatant lies or bull shite spewing from the platform.
then there are those that seem to have no reason for even taking place.. such was the case for last nights congregation bible study.. all it did was talk about how many books and magazines have been published over the years and "aren't we wonderful that we print so much stuff"?
